Friday Sunset and Interesting Links

branch sunset

The Skirball Cultural Center is currently showing an exhibit entitled Creating the United States, on view through February 17, 2013.

Here is an interesting article, in the Jewish Journal, regarding production of an upcoming film about Noah’s Ark. The actual replica of the ark, withstood Hurricane Sandy, while surroundings were destroyed.

Visit The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles to see their upcoming community events.

Visit Skywatch Friday for more sky scenes.

I ended 2012 by reviewing the novel The Poe Shadow, by Matthew Pearl.

Jewish Roots in Southern Soil: A New History, is My first book review of 2013.

Shabbat Shalom!

I am sorry for the update, but I felt that this was an important piece of information:

Gerda Lerner, who was a pioneer regarding women’s history, has died at the age of 92. May her Memory be for a Loving Blessing.

  1. Shabbat Shalom! Guess those Hollywood people did a good job of reading the Bible before building the ark!

  2. That is a lovely shot.

  3. I like how the sky here seems to light up the overhanging branches.

  4. I love the pink in the photo!

  5. Thank you for the interesting links. I really like your sky photo as well.

  6. “Aronofsky’s ark stood fast against the winds of Hurricane Sandy, even as they ripped up more than three hundred trees from the surrounding arboretum.” That is amazing…I do check out your links Lorri….Michelle

  7. I love how the tree branches intersect one another; great photo!

  10. How fitting that the ark stood while all around it was devastation.
    Shavua tov Lorri.

  11. Interesting shot. I like how the branch intersects the photo diagonally. You have a great eye for scene and perception.

  12. Concerning the article about Noah’s Ark. Remember the photo of the Blessed Mother that stood in the Rockaway’s after Sandy? Reminds me of that. Like writers say, “Borrow widely, use wisely.”
