Sunday Scenes – March 3, 2013

uplifting1

The way the cherry blossom stood out through the shadows was very uplifting. I liked the way it was illuminated while soaking up the sun.

Patio Moments

I love my potted plants
hanging from the patio
Some nurtured from seed
others bought from a nursery
Either way, they thrive
within my cradling hands
The earth slips between
my stretched fingers,
The water sings its song
as I give them a morning drink
Vibrant roses, petunias, pansies
laughing, joyous, showy blouses
sway in the morning breeze.

Sunday Scenes – Last one of 2012

tree shadows

The pictures of the pelicans, great white egret and other birds were taken about a week ago while walking at the lake. The shadow photograph was taken then, as well.

Conference Time

The Beak of the Pelican
By J. Patrick Lewis
She looks for wiggly fishes,
At least so it appears,
To stuff inside the suitcase
That’s swinging from her ears.

And though she’s very graceful
When flying round and round,
How does she get that faceful
Of luggage off the ground?

Sunday Scenes November 25, 2012

The past few days have been productive, as far as reading goes. I have finished reading Salman Rushdie’s auto-biography, Joseph Anton. I will be writing a review soon. I also finished reading The Promised Land, by Mary Antin.

Sunday Scenes – November 18, 2012

The lake always brings me comfort. There is something about the natural scene, filled with varied life forms, from fish to birds, people to plants and trees that fill my senses. I can never get enough of it, and try to get there at least three times a week. It is a great place for walking or jogging, and inhaling nature’s beauty. It is an excellent place to reflect and meditate. I am often in awe of the serene setting, nestled within freeways and the hustle and bustle of daily life.
