Friday News – June 28, 2013

I had a week with distractions. My blogging was scant. I did visit other blogs, though.

I finished “The Loves of Judith“, by Meir Shalev…he never disappoints me.

Tomorrow is my grandie boy joy, Logan’s fourth birthday! Arggggggh! A pirate party will be held this weekend!

Hannah writes about her experiences in “A Year of Tai Chi“.

I finished reading:

I am currently reading Jacob’s Folly, by Rebecca Miller. Talk about being a fly on the wall, this is a very creative way to tell a story!

I had a slow week in the blogosphere.

I did manage to review Rashi’s Daughters, Book III: Rachel, by Maggie Anton.

Leora’s post “Flora of Mount Meron, Israel – Sketching Out“, has gorgeous flora photographs and breathtaking views.

The Elaine Margolin with the Jewish Journal has written a compelling review of Landscapes of the Metropolis of Death, by Otto Dov Kulka.


Holocaust Books for Kids

The Jewish Federation of Greater Los Angeles has some fantastic upcoming events.

This weekend I will participate in a “Making Strides Against Breast Cancer” walk, at the lake I always frequent during the week. I am volunteering at the registration desk, and then will walk with everyone else.

Friday News – 5/24/13

Delightful Delectables

The Los Angeles Jewish Film Festival is from June 1 – June 6, 2013. The screening schedule can be found here. I will definitely be attending a couple of the screenings.

Newly elected Los Angeles Mayor Garcetti and whether he is the first Jewish Mayor of Los Angeles.

Jewish Organizations come to the aid of Oklahoma.

Hannah’s Ginger Glazed Halibut sounds simply delicious.

I enjoyed Freya’s flash-fiction, and its vivid imagery.

Heidi Estrin hosted the May Jewish Book Carnival.
