Curving

This was taken on a walk through the lake and its bird sanctuary, and offshoot streams that lead to the L.A. River. I belong to a walking group, which is nice, because not only do we walk at a decent pace, but we also chatter the time away. We all seem to have a lot in common, which makes it enjoyable.

I am in the middle of reading The Retrospective, by A.B. Yehoshua. I am an avid reader of his works.

Sunday Scenes – July 22, 2012

I can’t say enough about the community garden nestled within the valley. Between the hustle and bustle of traffic, lies a tranquil place where one can rent a plot of land to grow flowers, vegetables, fruits or landscape it in order to sit and relax in the midst of calm.

I like looking at the varied fences and gates that some gardeners have come up with. The simple ones are ones I truly enjoy, no matter their state.

I enjoy walking around the garden center, looking at the creative edge within the landscape, and enjoy coming across the varied benches, chairs and tables that are placed there. Some chairs, benches and tables, are placed specifically in a plot or just outside of it, and some are permanent, put up by the Los Angeles County Parks and Recreation Department.

The table and bench above is one of a few that are permanently placed within the community garden. The grandies and I love to sit here after our gardening responsibilities and have a snack and a drink.

I enjoyed the pop of red of the chair against the white in the photo above.

Sunday Scenes – June 10, 2012

The Japanese Garden – Suiho En, is a stunning slice of beauty, nature and heavenly-looking visuals located within the bustling San Fernando Valley (SFV). Who knew such quietude and loveliness existed within the SFV.

Take a virtual tour, you won’t be disappointed.

I came across the gardens quite by accident. I have lived in the SFV almost 40 years, and never knew of The Japanese Garden’s existence. I thought I knew the SFV inside out. Wrong!

I was driving with my grandies, looking to see if there was another entrance to a different site, when I saw a sign for The Japanese Gardens. I couldn’t believe my eyes. So, there we went, off on another one of our unexpected adventures, as I made a u-turn in the road!

I took quite a few photographs, as many as I could with the grandies wanting to go here or there within the garden grounds. I heard Emmie say, “Oh no, not another picture, grammy”, several times, and of course, Logan followed suit, echoing her. But, I also let them point to scenes they wanted me to take a capture of. Four photographs from the gardens are below. One begins the post.

Both of my grandies wanted me to take the photograph directly above. And, they had fun, jumping from step to step, as you can see below.

It was a delightful and serene time. The grounds are exquisite, calming, and I was in awe due to the beauty of it all. The grandies loved it, and said they want to go back again one day soon.
