Red Coat, Seals, Commorants

My love of photography is a passion I have had since I was a child. I am not a portrait photographer, but love to capture people during moments of quietude, that illuminate their passions.

I was looking out the window of the Monterey Bay Aquarium, in Monterey CA, last November, and saw this woman photographing the scene in front of her. I just had to capture her photographing the black commorants and the seals on the rocks.

  1. This is a great candid photo — and it’s beautiful as well.

  2. I like the way she is red and her surroundings are blue or gray. I didn’t get into photography until my sons were born. Then I discovered taking photos is quicker than painting. When my daughter was born, I got into digital photography. My son wanted baby pictures (he’s almost 20), and I had to scan some in. Not so for my daughter (age 12).

    • Thank you, Leora. Her red coat is what caught my eye, along with her photographing the commorants and seals.

Your daughter will want the, one day. Give her five or six years, if not sooner.
